It was a heart-thumpin’ last few laps, with Smoke in a spot where no one really wants to be when Jr.’s breathing down their neck — large & in charge in front. Still … maybe thanks to Smoke’s right feint to throw Jr.’s run off, Biff’s bonehead decision not to stay on Jr.’s tail, or just the sheer power of what we all now have to admit is a winning combo in the Toyota-plus-Gibbs equation … Smoke finally took his first Dega checker!
Just sucks it was Toyota, and too bad it was Cup Light … but … there’s always tomorrow … and of course, next year, when he’ll be runnin’ a bowtie again, grin …

You forgot to mention that Morgan Shephard finished on the lead lap in 13th place. Maybe Marc could tell us the last event that Shephard finished on the lead lap or in the top 15.

I didn’t even notice that! In fact, I was taping the race so I could watch it later (maybe), even though it was on at low-volume at the time … apparently nothing jumped out at me enough to turn it up or pay much attention until those last few laps. They were good, but not great … exciting for the drivers involved, never knowing what to expect from a few of them, but not exciting for the “anyone could take it right now” factor since they were simply too spread out …
… hate, hate, hate the COT, man.
But, congrats to Shephard — that’s huge news for him, and I love knowing that all these years of bull-like tenacity have finally paid off in a decent $$-finish for him!!
Boy — when will prom season end? Can’t imagine how annoying THAT must be for you, lol, lol … whew. I don’t think I’d make a good chauffer, darlin’ — especially not of the obnoxious teenager type … “sit down, shut up, and don’t bug me or I’ll hit the eject buttons!” grin
