For Junior Nation….88 AMP/MOUNTAIN DEW & NATIONAL GUARD

88hms.jpg The long awaited announcement was made today in Dallas, Texas. HMS will field the 88 fueled by AMP, MOUNTAIN DEW & NATIONAL GUARD.

I like the 88 being used. JR Motorsports fields the 88 in the NBS series. I think it was cool for Robert and Doug Yates to work out an agreement to allow Dale jr to run the 88. Perhaps this means the reintroduction of the 28 for RYR.  For HMS, looks like another home run package. I can see the diecast selection now, 4-6 different paint schemes in the first season. Another plus will be the additional merchandising opportunities to children in apparel. things that were limited by the nature of the BUDWEISER sponsorship.

One must wonder what the overhead pan from the TV network will look like in the grandstands. What is now a sea of red will soon be green.

Lets recap; NASCAR’s MOST POPULAR DRIVER, ‘04 DAYTONA 500 winner, combined with big sponsors and lots of fan support all in the basket at Hendrick Motorsports.

Will this all overshadow 4 time Cup Champion, Jeff Gordon? Will Jimmy be miffed? does Casey Mears feel like the guy in the corner with the 5 team? For Rick Hendrick, the internal workings might be tough at times.

Thanks for the note, Pete. I enjoy doing what I can to keep this site going. I wish I had more time to work on it. there are so many stories to tell, so little time to research and write about them.
