F1: Kubica Leads BMW To Points, Well … Lead, grin

Third podium takes BMW into championship lead

“I am happy with the result,” said Kubica. “This is my second consecutive podium and the team is leading the constructors’ championship.”  Full Story

At the beginning of the 2007 season, I remember picking Kubica as at least one underrated driver who would soon surprise everyone. I may have been a little early to the party in terms of seasons, grin, but it’s still wonderful to see him, and BMW, taking podiums in 2008.

In fact — it’s great to finally see a bit of performance diversity in F1, as I grew tired of simply trying to predict which Ferrari or McLaren teams would take races/podiums. In NASCAR, this type of thing is called “parity” — a term I seriously dislike, especially as it relates to the COT, but I digress. I’d rather think of it as “competition”, which is what racing is all about, or what’s the point?
