Kyle Petty may be out as driver of the #45 Wells Fargo Dodge effectively immediately. That Kyle may be out of a ride fielded by the company founded by his grandfather, Lee Petty is a little strange. Petty Enterprises is no longer in the hands of the family headed by Richard Petty. With the partnership [...]

Grumpy: Lets Get Back to Racin’ Already!

19-Sep-08

It’s time to move on, I think. Grouchy would want us to carry on. Besides, his favorite driver retired earlier this season. He adopted Dale Jarrett as his favorite after the death of Alan Kulwicki. Jarrett was then driving for Joe Gibbs in the #18 Interstate Batteries Pontiac. When Jarrett moved to Robert Yates Racing, my [...]

Grumpy: Farewell to a Fellow Car Guy

16-Sep-08

It was an unlikely friendship between this odd pack rat fellow who worked in a cluttered office. Piles of car magazines, an overflowing ashtray and a slightly greying man in a rumpled shirt with tie askew. That is how I found my new friend in a temporary office trailer out back of the Chevrolet dealership that [...]
